All That Glitters Is Not Gold

Among the Lilies

“Consider the lilies, how they grow.”

Scripture invites us to pause and look deeply at their beauty. Even Solomon, in all his wealth and splendor, was not arrayed like one of these. There is a fullness in their design—rare and delicate. When the light shifts from shadow into brightness, the lily seems almost to illuminate, revealing a glory that feels both simple and profound. When the wind gently brushes across her petals, they tremble and dance in the breeze, releasing a fragrance hidden deep within her secret heart. In such moments we are reminded that worry has no place here. The gifts of creation surround us each day, quietly opening before our eyes. Nothing fashioned by human hands can compare with what is given so freely. These are offerings from our Creator—Yahweh, the great “I Am,” the One who brings all things into being. Each flower stands unique. Though there are many varieties, no two are the same. This diversity reflects the faithfulness and creativity of the One who designed them all. He is the ultimate giver of abundant life—extending even toward the promise of everlasting life.

The Narrow Way

Scripture reminds us:

“Narrow and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. But wide is the path that leads to destruction.”

This dreamy, Chagall-like painting of lilies reflects that quiet spiritual truth.

The blooms become a metaphor for the crowning achievements of God’s creation—symbols of His glory, His finery, and the intimate beauty woven into the world He has made.

Within the composition, the leaves of the lilies rise upward almost like the rungs of a ladder, gently guiding the eye higher. They lead us toward the promise of abundant and everlasting life.

Running through the image is a golden path, symbolic of our homeward journey. It reminds us of the destiny awaiting those who walk the narrow road—the path that ultimately leads to the golden streets of Heaven.

The cluster of lilies becomes an invitation to remember that true treasure is not found in earthly glitter, but in the quiet beauty of lives transformed by God’s love.

Artist Reflection

As a painter, I find myself continually drawn into the beauty of God’s creation. Through the act of painting, I sense how deeply the natural world reveals His heart. Creation becomes a teacher.

Color, fragrance, and form awaken something deep within us—a quiet sigh of wonder that comforts the heart and reminds us of the love that sustains us. And so I lean into the heavenly blue, climbing higher where love guides my steps. Clothed not in earthly splendor, but in a purity that glimmers softly in the light

like a lily, radiant and white.
