Prayers from the Easel

Until He Comes

There is a quiet longing that lives within the heart of every believer—a watchful anticipation that looks toward the promise of Christ’s return. This assemblage work was created as an encouragement to what I sometimes call the rapture-restless saints—those whose hearts remain awake to the hope that the Bridegroom will one day return for His bride.

Scripture often speaks of this moment using the language of light. As we wait, we are called not to withdraw from the world, but to shine within it. In dark times especially, our faith becomes a light that others can see.

The central figure in this piece represents the Bride—preparing herself for the arrival of the Bridegroom. Her posture reflects readiness, expectancy, and devotion. In many ways she symbolizes the calling given to all of us: to remain watchful, faithful, and filled with hope. The waiting is not passive. It is active, radiant, and alive. Each act of love, each moment of faith, each quiet expression of beauty becomes a small light shining in the world. And often, without realizing it, we inspire others simply by holding onto that hope.

This is one of the reasons I love creating art and sharing it through workshops and retreats. When people gather together to create, something remarkable happens. Art becomes a place where hearts open, conversations deepen, and faith begins to shine outward. Together we discover that creativity itself can become a spark—one that spreads encouragement and light.

Perhaps, in its own small way, every artwork becomes a reminder to remain watchful and ready.Until he comes.
