Prayers from the Easel

Butterfly Lady

Proverbs 3:13

“Happy is the person who finds wisdom, and the one who gains understanding. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.”

Scripture invites us to seek wisdom with our whole hearts. True wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord—not fear that drives us away, but a holy awe, a reverential awareness of God’s presence. He knows every hidden thing. He knows our thoughts and what rests within our hearts.

God’s commandments are not given to burden us, but to guide us. In Proverbs we read:

“The commandment is a lamp and the law is light.”—Proverbs 6:23

In the original Hebrew, the word Torah simply means instruction or teaching. When we understand this, the word “commandment” becomes something beautiful: a loving guidance that illuminates the path before us. God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. When we seek Him wholeheartedly, He promises that we will find Him. “The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”—Proverbs 4:18

And Jesus reminds us:

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”—John 8:12

Poetic Reflection from the Painting

Butterfly Lady

Lovely lady, butterfly lady, looking toward the dawning of a new day.

She holds a vision within her heart—a place where love springs up freely.Nothing holds her back now.Life from within rises like a river swelling the banks of her soul. No borders remain.Love becomes her guiding force,a freedom that cannot be contained.

Grace has broken every stronghold. llusions fall away. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye—she is free.

Her perception shifts. Her eyes open. And suddenly tears of joy rise from deep within. A quiet knowing awakens. She finds herself standing in a secret sanctuary, a garden of loveheld in the wraparound presence of God’s arms.

Golden sunflowers rise around herlike a crown of glory.

A gentle wind moves from the southern sky,and the winged birds rejoice, carriers of fragrance filling the air.

The hills and valleys sing. She smiles inwardly, knowing deeply that her life has becomea beautiful garden of love.

Are we not all drawn by the Father’s great love?

One by one we awaken.

Jesus is near. His voice whispers softly: Behold me.I am yours to discover.

Take me into your heart, my love is your sanctuary.

I long to shelter you under my everlasting arms.

Nothing can quench my fiery love for you.

Do not fear the past or its wounds.

Behold—I am doing a new thing. Old things are passing away. All things are being made new.

Under my shed bloodnothing will be too difficult for you.

My beloved, lift your face. Let my light shine upon you.

I have placed a new song in your heart.

From dust and ashes wings begin to form.

A living hope rises.

Arise, my love, ascend with me.

Your light has come.

Follow my leading.I am the light guiding youthrough the dark valleys of understanding.

Entrust everything to my care.

In time, the way becomes clear.

We are growing togetherin the unity of the Spirit, shining from glory to glory.

You are a new creation, hidden in Christ—your eternal dwelling place.

I am with you always.I will never leave you. So come away, my beloved.

The winds are changing. The seasons are turning.

The Spirit and the Bride say, Come.

When you hear my voice, harden not your heart.

Return your love to the Father.

Love will carry youon wings of silverand feathers dipped in gold.

For you are more precious than rubies, rarer than fine gold.

Come, my beloved.

Take hold of my loveand fly.

Artist Reflection

While painting this image, I sense a deep movement of transformation—the quiet miracle of new life emerging where there was once only struggle. Like the butterfly, the soul awakens when it encounters the love of God.

Through the act of painting, I am reminded again that grace has the power to transform every life.

And so I pray that whoever encounters this image may also glimpse that same hope.
